12U
Shut Out By Moorhead
The
12U girls hockey team assembled at the Lee Center in Morris for
a game that was rescheduled for that venue, to the delight of Morris
fans. The delight was tempered a bit, though, by some illness sweeping
through the team’s ranks. With a few girls feeling under the
weather, this MBA
team still managed to come through with a solid game, coaches noted.
The opponent was Moorhead, Sunday.
Moorhead has historically been
tough to beat. The MBA girls fought hard on offense but the puck
just didn’t go in the net. MBA and
Moorhead were pretty even in shots on goal. MBA shot 16 pucks at
a tough Moorhead goalie, while Moorhead sent 20 shots on goal,
scoring two goals in the first period, four in the second and two
in the third.
Both the offense and defense fought hard but
kept it fairly clean, as there was only one penalty during the
first period, on Lizzy Vick for hooking. MBA was defeated in the
8-0 final.
“Hopefully the girls will rest up and be ready, because the
MBA girls have a tough weekend ahead with a second matchup with
Detroit Lakes on Friday night, Park Rapids Saturday morning and a Sunday game
against Fergus Falls on the Benson home ice,” a coach announced.
